Aang was the Avatar and Last Airbender of his time, but there are many secrets surrounding this powerful character. Here are the top 10 secrets about Aang:
1. Aang was born in a long-forgotten Southern Air Temple, which is why he lacked some Airbending training when first encountered by Katara and Sokka. He also had no knowledge of the dreaded Fire Nation’s impending attack until they arrived at the Southern Water Tribe village.
2. Aang shared a unique connection with sky bison Appa, who acted as his companion throughout his travels. It has been speculated that Aang had trained Appa from a very young age since ancient airbenders were able to ride sky bisons for transportation in the past.
3. Aang was also a master at earthbending, as he quickly learned the basics of the art from King Bumi in Omashu. Later, Aang received more intensive training from Toph to become an expert in earthbending.
4. Despite his lack of knowledge about Fire Nation culture, Aang had an affinity for their traditional clothing and often wore it during his Avatar adventures, even sewing some extra pieces himself!
5. Originally, Aang was supposed to have four toys: Momo, Appa, Pabu, and a flying lemur named Kuzon. However, producers later decided that Kuzon would not be included as part of the show’s main cast.
6. Aang was not the only living Airbender, as were many others who had been during their travels in the Spirit World. However, Aang was the only one with access to the Avatar State, and thus he was able to restore the balance of harmony between all four nations.
7. In addition to his skills with airbending and earthbending, Aang also had a hidden gift for energybending..
8. Aang was able to heal the physical and mental scars of an individual with a simple touch, which he used on several occasions throughout his Avatar journey.
9. Even though Aang never completed his training as an Airbender, he still managed to master all four elements and become a fully-realised Avatar by the end of the series.
10. After becoming the Avatar, Aang found himself in a unique position of being unable to age or die due to his connection with energybending—which meant that he could remain living for centuries! This fact has been confirmed by both Zuko and Iroh when they spoke about him during their travels together in Part 2: The Earth Kingdom Chronicles.
